Tomorrow is my least favorite day of the year. Call it bitterness, but I hate Valentine's Day. Back in college, I remember the day being particularly infamous for a couple of reasons:
1.If you were single, you were very likely bitter. And since you were bitter on Valentine's Day, then you were also sorta... cast out by your non-single friends. It's like how people get with lepers, except only for a day.
2.If you were in a relationship, then you'd be spending all your waking moments with your sweetheart, and, as mentioned above, you'd be leaving your friends high and dry.
It's strange how one day can have such a bizarre, uniform effect on everyone at once. Especially considering how commercial the holiday itself is. I mean,, c'mon, sales for it go on for the entire week! This isn't just some day thing.
Anyways, the point being, one of my perpetually single (and therefore, consistently reliable and bitter) friends coined February 14th's new name in my eyes.
Singles Awareness Day. Get it? S.A.D. I'm sure that got ripped from some TV show, but whatever.
The question is, where do I stand in all this?
Well, I'm still single. I don't know if I'm as much bitter about that as I am bitter towards couples. The one huge reason Valentine's Day is one of those hated days is mainly for seeing everyone else.
Or maybe I'm just lonely.
